How to Calculate Your Zakat

Follow these steps to accurately calculate your Zakat obligation according to Islamic principles:

1

Enter Your Liquid Assets

Input all cash you have on hand and the total balance in your bank accounts. This includes savings accounts, checking accounts, and any other liquid cash holdings.

2

Add Precious Metals

Enter the weight of your gold and silver in grams, along with current market prices per gram in SAR. Include jewelry that you own for investment purposes (not personal use items).

3

Include Investments & Business Assets

Add the value of your stocks, shares, investment properties (not your primary residence), and business inventory. Only include assets held for investment or trade.

4

Account for Debts

Enter money owed to you that you expect to receive, and debts you owe that are due within the year. Your net zakatable wealth is calculated after deducting immediate debts.

5

Review Your Zakat Obligation

The calculator will determine if your wealth exceeds the Nisab threshold and calculate your Zakat at 2.5% of your net zakatable wealth. See the detailed breakdown of Zakat due on each asset category.

Islamic Principles of Zakat

Our calculator follows authentic Islamic guidelines for Zakat calculation:

  • Zakat is 2.5% of wealth that has been held for one lunar year (Hawl)
  • Wealth must exceed Nisab threshold (85g gold or 595g silver equivalent)
  • Personal use items like your home and car are not zakatable
  • Immediate debts can be deducted from your total wealth
Understanding Nisab

Nisab is the minimum threshold of wealth required before Zakat becomes obligatory:

  • Gold Nisab: 85 grams of pure gold (approximately 24 karat)
  • Silver Nisab: 595 grams of pure silver
  • Scholars recommend using the lower of the two values to benefit more people
  • Current market prices are used to determine if wealth exceeds Nisab
